Call if you have questions about Medicaid, managed care, federal funding for children's preventive care, government responsibility to provide care, or how to understand your state or local health care system National Women's Health Network - a consumer advocacy group giving women a greater voice in the health care system NO FREE LUNCH - An organization of health care providers -- physicians, pharmacists, nurses, dentists, among others -- who believe that pharmaceutical promotion should not guide clinical practice, and that over-zealous promotional practices can lead to bad patient care. The organization's goal is to encourage health care practitioners to provide high quality care based on unbiased evidence rather than on biased pharmaceutical promotion. They inform health care providers as well as the general public about pharmaceutical industry efforts to promote their products and influence prescribing; provide evidence that promotion does in fact influence health care provider behavior, often in ways that run counter to good patient care; and provide products that can replace pharmaceutical company paraphernalia and spread the message. HealthFinder - a gateway site to help consumers find health and human services information quickly. It includes links to more than 1,250 sites including government, university and other consumer health resources. Health and Human Servies (HHS) Institute of Medicine - part of the National Academy of Sciences; they publish objective and authoritative information on a variety of health topics. NIH - access point to the consumer health resources of the National Institutes of Health
NIOSH (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Women's Health Information Center, a 'gateway' site that has attempted to organize information on health issues for women to a single point of entry. This site includes links to government clearinghouses and many private sector organizations.
